Ultracasual Games Make Their Mark in Europe on iOS in Q4 2020

The ultracasual gaming category continued to entertain users across Europe in the fourth quarter of 2020. Sensor Tower provides a closer look at the performance of the top five iOS applications in this segment.

Acrylic Nails! by Crazy Labs showed a consistent trend with downloads starting at roughly 647K in the last week of September and ending the quarter with a spike to around 342K. The weekly active users (WAU) peaked at over 1M in the same week, gradually declining to approximately 570K by the end of December.

Voodoo's Demolish! presented a different trend, with downloads peaking at 314K in early October and then slowly tapering off to about 54K by the year's end. Despite the decline, the game maintained a steady base of active users, ending the quarter with around 110K weekly active users.

Another title from Crazy Labs, I Can Paint, had downloads ranging from 62K to 42K towards the end of the quarter. The game's active users saw a peak of 167K in mid-October and finished the quarter with about 92K active users.

KAYAC Inc.'s Paint Dropper experienced a steady increase in downloads, starting at 37K and reaching 64K in late December. The WAU followed a similar upward trajectory, starting the quarter at about 51K and growing to nearly 90K.

Lastly, Magic Slime: Antistress & ASMR by Finger Art Games, not only showed growth in downloads from 66K to 76K but also saw significant revenue, ending the year with approximately $34K in the last week of December. The game's active users saw a rise from 66K in late September to 92K in the final week of 2020.
